Doosje van aluminiumfolie/ Tinfoil box

Het doosje waar ik eerder over schreef is af!!! Ik ben er erg blij mee.

Een kleine samenvatting van mijn werkwijze: ik nam een kartonnen doosje, verfde alle naden en kiertjes zwart met acrylverf. Daarna mat ik elk vlak na en sneed de onderdelen voor deksel en doosje op maat uit dikker papier. Dit papier plakte ik op aluminiumfolie. Ik liet het folie groter zijn dan het papier, zodat ik de randen om kon vouwen. Dit vond ik zelf een nette afwerking en het voorkwam losse rafelrandjes.

Daarna gingen deze onderdelen met een embossingfolder door de stansmachine, bewerkte ik ze met verf en plakte ik ze op het doosje.

The box I wrote about earlier is finished! I am very happy with the end result. Here's a short summary about the process. I started with a cardboard box, and painted it with black acrylic paint. The next step was to measure all the sides and the top and bottom, so I could cut the different parts that were going to cover the box to size out of a piece of paper.  I purposely cut the tinfoil pieces a tad bigger than the paper pieces, so that the edges could be folded over. This gave the pieces a nice finish and prevented the tinfoil from fraying. After that I embossed and painted the pieces and adhered them to the box.

Als enthousiasteling met een budget is het soms lastig om aan materialen te komen.Toen ik net begon met scrapbooken, was ik overweldigd door de hoeveelheid aan benodigdheden die je zou kunnen (moeten?) aanschaffen om aan de slag te gaan. Het kan al vrij snel een dure hobby worden.

Daarom zoek ik graag naar alternatieven en experimenteer ik veelvuldig met materialen die ik al in huis heb. Soms met verrassende resultaten.

As a scrapbooker on a budget it's sometimes difficult to get materials. When I started this hobby I quickly became overwhelmed by all the different tools and materials that you could (or should?) buy to get crafting. Things can get expensive quite quickly. That's one of the reasons why I am always on the lookout for alternatives. I also like to experiment with materials that are already present in my home. Which sometimes leads to unexpected results.

Een product dat ik al een tijdje op het oog heb, is Metal Foil tape van het merk Ranger; een dun metaalvelletje met een lijmlaag op de achterkant. Ik heb hier al eens mee gewerkt in de label- en stempelworkshop die ik een tijdje geleden heb gevolgd en ik was erg enthousiast over. Helaas ben ik nu even niet in de gelegenheid om dit product nu aan te schaffen. Maar niet getreurd, want er is een goedkoper alternatief: aluminiumfolie!

One of the products I have on my wishlist is Metal Foil Tape by Ranger, a thin sheet of metal with an adhesive backing. I worked with this product during my stamping techniques workshop and I loved the results. Unfortunately I am not able to buy it at the moment. But I found an alternative: tinfoil!
